A NEW TASTE EXPERIENCE IS SOON TO BE LAUNCHED AT SYSTEMBOLAGET 

In March 2026, a completely new taste experience will be introduced at Systembolaget: Pastis Nordique – a Nordic interpretation of the French classic. In a blind tasting featuring 17 different anise spirits, Pastis Nordique was selected as the winner thanks to its superior flavour profile.

Pastis Nordique is the result of meticulous craftsmanship, where traditional flavour principles are combined with Nordic innovation. The drink maintains the classic anise base but is refined with selected herbs and spices that lend a fresh Nordic character. It will be launched in a practical 200 ml glass bottle – a convenient format for consumers who want to enjoy pastis without purchasing a larger bottle.

Pastis is a traditional anise spirit from southern France, which emerged after absinthe was banned in 1915. As distillers began developing milder alternatives, pastis took shape, and in 1932 the first version was launched – quickly becoming an integral part of the Provençal aperitif culture. Traditionally, pastis has been served diluted to a milky appearance, but today it is often enjoyed over generous ice cubes in elegant champagne glasses or used as a sophisticated component in modern cocktails.

Pastis Nordique has been developed in collaboration with Skånska Spritfabriken, a modern distillery grounded in Scanian terroir and Swedish beverage tradition. Master Blender Jan Rothman has created a Nordic interpretation of the French classic with a focus on flavour, quality, and sustainability.
